Bauhaus ideology was slowly morphing from surrealism (art and design in the service of individual expressionism) to constructivism ((art and design in the service of social functionalism), and that had more influence on his resigning from teaching at a government sponsored institution. He went on to organize his own successful school of art and design… you might want to continue your research on this very influential designer- you share many similarities with him in your work and concerns.
